Dubai: The United States has confirmed that six American soldiers were killed in an Iranian attack on a military center in Kuwait. U.S. Central Command initially reported three deaths following the incident on Sunday. However, officials confirmed the death toll rose to six after one injured soldier succumbed to wounds and two additional bodies were recovered from the rubble of a destroyed building.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the Iranian counter-attack bypassed air defense systems and struck a U.S. bunker in Kuwait. These are the first military fatalities reported since the U.S. launched a new war against Iran in coordination with Israel. Hegseth stated that a powerful weapon hit a highly secure "Tactical Operations Center." CBS News reported that the soldiers were killed in a drone strike.
Iran also launched two drone attacks against the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh. The building caught fire and sustained damages, but no injuries were reported. U.S. President Donald Trump warned that a retaliatory strike would be imminent.
The conflict in the Middle East expanded to new levels on Tuesday as Iran unleashed retaliatory strikes across the region. Following the initial assaults, Iran began a large-scale counter-offensive. A joint statement shared by Qatar noted that Iranian drone and missile attacks occurred across at least eight Arab nations. Consequently, the United States decided to close its embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Along with the closures, the State Department directed Americans residing in Middle Eastern countries to leave immediately.
Due to security threats, the U.S. Embassy in Beirut has been closed indefinitely. Embassy staff and citizens in Oman have also been advised to move to safe locations.
Because of the state of war, the airspace over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel, the UAE, and most Gulf countries remains empty. While Riyadh airport is technically operational, hundreds of flights have been canceled.

Israel announced it carried out new strikes against strategic targets in the Iranian capital of Tehran, including the Presidential Office. Israel also clarified that it would deploy more ground troops further into Lebanese territory. Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced it is targeting Israel with drone strikes.
As the war enters its fourth day, the death toll continues to rise, now including the six U.S. service members. President Donald Trump suggested that U.S. forces have the capability to continue strikes against Iran for much longer than the four-to-five-week duration initially projected by the military.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on Tuesday that they bombed major government targets in the Iranian capital and ordered troops to advance further into Lebanon. The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that the death toll from U.S. and Israeli airstrikes has risen to 787.
