New Delhi: India has reached an agreement with Israel to procure the 'Bee 3' Dual-Channel Observation and Surveillance System, which provides clear visuals even in pitch darkness and heavy fog.
According to reports, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth approximately INR 17.23 crore ($1.9 million) has been signed with the Israeli company Autonomous Guard. While the specific Indian entity that signed the MoU remains undisclosed, Autonomous Guard stated that this marks its first entry into the Indian security market.
The advanced surveillance and threat-detection systems, developed by BeeSense Sensor Systems (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Autonomous Guard), will be supplied in phases. BeeSense is a company specializing in sensor-based observation technologies.
Technology: The 'Bee 3' system is designed specifically for homeland security and the protection of critical infrastructure. It utilizes advanced Thermal and CMOS technologies to detect mid-range threats.
Durability: The platform is engineered to operate in extreme weather and challenging field conditions.
Timeline: Deliveries will begin following a successful demonstration. The first units will be handed over to India within six months, with the remaining units supplied over the following nine months.
Autonomous Guard CEO Baruch Dillion described the deal as a significant milestone in the company's expansion. "This is the company’s first entry into the Indian market, and we view it as one with great business potential," he said.
Strengthening India-Israel Ties
This agreement is seen as a sign of deepening defense cooperation between India and Israel. Israel has become India’s largest arms supplier after France, with defense deals between the two nations totaling approximately $8.6 billion. Over the last five years, 34% of Israel's defense exports were to India.
Both countries had previously signed MoUs to increase collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, and Joint Military Production. Autonomous Guard hopes that a successful execution of this contract will lead to more orders and solidify its position in the Indian market.
Features of the Bee 3 System:
Dual Channels: Equipped with both Thermal and CMOS sensors, ensuring clear imagery in total darkness and thick fog.
Ruggedized Design: Capable of functioning in the extreme heat and cold characteristic of India’s borders.
Objective: Used for preventing infiltration and securing vital installations like airports and power plants.
Autonomous Guard is also an expert in detecting and neutralizing drones. Their sensor technology can identify threats across land, sea, and air at an early stage.
According to Forbes India, India procures a wide range of equipment from Israel, including:
Guidance Kits: For directing bombs to targets with high precision.
Air-to-Ground Missiles: High-speed missiles launched from aircraft.
Cruise Missiles: Advanced missiles used against naval targets.
