NEW YORK: The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the moment sees no connection between the terrorist attacks in New Orleans (Louisiana) and Las Vegas (Nevada), the Bureau’s Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia said at a press conference.
At this point, there is no definitive connection between the attack in New Orleans and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, he emphasized.
The FBI official noted that the investigation was at an early stage.
The explosion of an electric Cybertruck pickup truck occurred on Wednesday near the 64-story Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The incident left at least one person dead and seven others injured. The dead man’s identity has not yet been established.
On New Year's Eve, around 3 a.m. local time, a vehicle drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street in downtown New Orleans. After the vehicle came to a stop, the perpetrator began fired shots at police officers and was killed by return fire. According to the latest reports, 14 people lost their lives and at least 30 others were injured.
The FBI, in response to a TASS query said it regarded the incident as a terrorist attack. The perpetrator was identified as a US citizen from Texas Shamsud Din Jabbar. At the moment of the attack he had the flag of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia).
