MOSCOW: The proposal to use revenues from frozen Russian assets voiced by the EU is another step to ruining the European law, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said earlier that he would propose that the EU uses 90% of the revenues from Russian assets frozen in Europe to buy arms for Ukraine via the European Peace Facility fund.
"This is another statement in line with the movement to ruining the legal basis of European and international law," Peskov said.
Moscow will respond to the EU’s attempts to use its frozen assets or revenues from them with years long court actions, the spokesman added.
"The Europeans are perfectly aware of damage that such decisions may cause both to their economy and to their image, their reputation as reliable guarantors of inviolability of property. Damage will be inevitable. Persons, states that will tie into making of such decisions will surely become subjects to law prosecution for many decades," he said.
