MOSCOW: Several districts in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky were left without electricity for about half an hour following a 6.9-magnitude earthquake on Monday, the regional division of the Emergencies Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, electricity service was restored at 7:31 a.m. Moscow time.

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake was registered in Avacha Bay, 44 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at about 3:00 p.m. local time (6:00 a.m. Moscow time) on Monday. Witnesses report that people were running out to the streets and that moving automobiles were carried away by the force of the earthquake.
Videos were posted on social media showing collapsed tiles and plastic ceilings inside various premises as well as broken merchandise that had fallen from store shelves.
