MOSCOW: Kirill Dmitriev, Russian special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), has named five EU countries he believes are especially hurt by the current Gulf energy shock.
According to him, Italy is highly dependent on gas ports; Germany relies on imports and has a high demand for energy; Poland is vulnerable because of its efforts to shift from coal to gas; Belgium is facing transit hub risks; and Romania depends on regional supplies.
The Russian envoy also mentioned the UK, which, in his view, is hurt by energy shocks because of declining production in the North Sea and dependence on energy imports.
Earlier, Dmitriev said that "an oil and gas price tsunami is about to devastate Europe."
