MOSCOW: The West sees Ukraine as a tool in its fight against Russia, caring little about the country’s ultimate fate, Russia’s deputy permanent representative to the OSCE Maxim Buyakevich said at a session of the OSCE Permanent Council.
"The nature of the current conflict is obvious to sensible politicians: NATO is waging a proxy war against Russia with Ukraine being the battering ram in its anti-Russian fight. The fate of Ukraine itself does not concern many people in the West because it has long been destined to serve as a pawn in a geopolitical game of the powers that be. And the Kiev regime itself does not represent the interests of all Ukrainians, obligingly taking them to slaughter by hundreds of thousands," he noted.
"It is important to finally realize that soon either the spiral of escalation will gain momentum with unpredictable consequences for some European countries and societies, or responsible politicians will manage to turn the tide and get engaged in a substantive dialogue, aiming to take into account the legitimate security interests of all sovereign states," Buyakevich added.
He also emphasized that Russia is "ready for meaningful professional interaction aiming for the swiftest political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict around Ukraine."
