MOSCOW: Wildfires broke out again in the Chernobyl exclusion zone in the Kiev Region, Ukraine’s state emergencies service said.

According to its post on Telegram, firefighters are extinguishing burning grass, forest litter, and brushwood.

Since early May, large fires have been breaking out periodically in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. In late June, fires broke out again in the exclusion zone. It took two weeks to extinguish them. Ukraine’s Hydrometeorological Institute recorder high levels of air pollution in the region. Furthermore, a fire tornado was observed in the exclusion zone in early July.
