MUMBAI : Acclaimed Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has officially married his longtime partner, Gauri Spratt, in a private legal ceremony at his residence in Bandra. The low-key event follows a two-year relationship and a professional acquaintance spanning over two decades.
Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt signed the official documents to legally register their marriage. Following the confirmation of the wedding, the newlyweds' first official photograph was shared on social media by the actor's PR agency.
"A celebration of love, laughter, and treasured moments. Welcome to Aamir Khan’s unforgettable wedding celebrations, filled with warmth, joy, and magic," read the caption accompanying the picture.
It was on June 4 that Aamir Khan had confirmed the news of his upcoming wedding to Gauri Spratt. Although they have known each other for 25 years, they fell in love two years ago.
Aamir’s three children and Gauri Spratt’s son attended the wedding. Producer Reena Dutta was Aamir’s first wife, with whom he has two children, Junaid and Ira Khan. In 2005, he married director Kiran Rao, but they separated in 2021. They share a son, Azad, whom they are co-parenting. Gauri Spratt has a six-year-old son who stays away from the media spotlight.
A Close-Knit Guest List and Gauri's Background
The guest list was limited to around 150 invitees, including relatives who arrived from abroad.
Gauri Spratt, originally from Bengaluru, spent most of her life there. She is the daughter of Rita Spratt, who used to run a salon in Bengaluru. An alumnus of Blue Mountain School, Gauri completed a fashion course from the University of the Arts London in 2004. She currently operates a salon in Mumbai.
Aamir Khan had previously shared details about his simple July 5 wedding while speaking to the media during the screening of Rajkumar Hirani’s series 'Pritam and Pedro'.
"The wedding is on July 5. It will be held at home. It is a very small wedding. The 5th is a very special day for us. Only both families and a few close friends will be present," he had stated, adding, "Since the ceremonies are at home, we need all your prayers and blessings for our happiness and the journey ahead. This is a strictly simple and family affair."
"Bhuvan Has Found His Gauri"
Aamir Khan first introduced his partner, Gauri, to the media during an interaction on his 60th birthday.
"Gauri and I met 25 years ago, and now we are partners. We are very serious and committed to each other. We have been together for a year and a half," he had shared. He also mentioned that he had introduced Gauri to Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at his Mumbai residence.
"Gauri works in production. I sing for her every day," Aamir said. Referencing his character Bhuvan from the movie Lagaan, he jokingly remarked, "Bhuvan has found his Gauri" (in Lagaan, the character Gauri, who is in love with Bhuvan, was played by Gracy Singh). During that interaction, Aamir also sang a few lines from the song "Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein..." for Gauri.
Embracing a New Chapter
"I don't know if marrying at the age of 60 is right for me. But my children are very happy. I am fortunate to maintain such good relations with my ex-wives," Aamir told the media.
"To be very honest, I had reached a point where I thought I would never find a partner again. I didn't expect this at all," he expressed during an HT event.
"She brings immense calmness and stability into my life. She is truly a wonderful person, and I am lucky to have met her. Even though my past marriages did not work out, those lives were not failures. I am happy to have had Reena, Kiran, and now Gauri in my life. These are three individuals who have contributed greatly to shaping me as a person. I look up to them with great respect in many matters," Aamir Khan concluded.
Over the past year, Aamir and Gauri have attended several events together, including the Macau International Comedy Festival held in China.
