MOSCOW: Over 50 media representatives from 19 countries set off to the scene of tragedy in Starobelsk, in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), in the wake of the Ukrainian military attack on a local college, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sunday.

"Over 50 foreign journalists went to the scene of the tragedy that occurred as a result of the Ukrainian military attack on a college in Starobelsk," Zakharova stated on her Telegram social network page.

"Media representatives from 19 foreign countries departed to the LPR earlier in the day: Austria, Brazil, Britain, Hungary, Venezuela, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, Qatar, China, Cuba, Lebanon, UAE, Pakistan, the United States, Turkey, Finland and France," she added.

Zakharova reiterated that Tokyo had barred its journalists from travelling to the LPR’s college tragedy scene, while "BBC has officially declined and CNN stated that it is currently on vacation."

The Ukrainian military launched drones at the academic building and dormitory of the Lugansk Pedagogical University’s Vocational College in the city of Starobelsk in the early hours of May 22. As many as 86 students aged from 14 and 18 years were inside at the time of the attack. According to latest official reports, 21 people were killed and 42 more wounded.

Zakharova stated on Saturday that Moscow would arrange a visit of foreign reporters to the site of the Ukrainian attack on a college in the Lugansk People’s Republic amid false allegations voiced earlier by Western officials at the UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting.
