ROME: Pope Leo XIV confirmed his readiness to host negotiations on Ukraine in the Vatican to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Italian government’s press service said.
"Giorgia Meloni held a phone conversation with Pope Leo XIV to discuss the next steps that need to be made to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. The Pontiff reaffirmed his readiness to hold the next talks in the Vatican," the statement says.
Earlier, Leo XIV called the parties to meet face to face, adding that he and the Holy See are ready to do their best to facilitate such talks.
