WASHINGTON: During the April 23 meeting in London, Washington expects to receive Kiev’s response to the final proposal of US President Donald Trump on Ukrainian conflict settlement, the Axios portal reported citing sources.
According to the report, the one-page "final offer" was handed over to Ukraine during the April 17 meeting in Paris with delegations from the United Kingdom, the United States and France. The document has a provision which says that Vladimir Zelensky will have to make "major concessions."
According to Axios, the US side "expects Ukraine's response Wednesday to a peace framework that includes US recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and unofficial recognition of Russian control of nearly all areas" liberated by Moscow. At the same time, sources said that Ukrainian emissaries want "to discuss a 30-day ceasefire during Wednesday's meetings in London rather than Trump's peace plan framework."
The Daily Telegraph wrote in the run-up to the UK-US-EU-Ukraine talks in London that the United States will unveil its seven-point plan of Ukrainian settlement, which includes provisions on recognizing Crimea as a part of Russia and removing all US sanctions, but contains no clear security guarantees for Ukraine.
The paper says that US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg will reveal this plan in London on April 23. After that, the US President’s special envoy, Steven Witkoff, will travel to Moscow to propose it to the Russian government.
