HAVANA: Secretary of the Russian Security Council Niikolay Patrushev on Wednesday met with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega to discuss issues of cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies and economy ministries, the press service of the Russian Security Council said.
"In Managua, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev was received by President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo. The sides discussed ways of strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Nicaragua. Special attention was focused on cooperation between the countries’ law enforcement structures and economy ministries," it said.
Petrushev is leading a Russian delegation of officials from the Russian presidential administration, foreign, interior, justice, energy, and industry ministries, the Federal Security and Foreign Intelligence Services, and the financial watchdog. While in Managua, Patrushev met with Nicaraguan presidential envoy for relations with Russia Laureano Ortega Murillo, national security adviser to the Bolivian president Jose Hugo Moldiz, Secretary of the Venezuelan National Defense Council Jose Adelino Ornelas Ferreira, and Cuban Interior Minister Lazaro Alvarez Casas. The sides discussed issues of cooperation between their countries’ security services, financial intelligence in the areas of cybersecurity, counter-terrorism and counter-extremism, as well as fight against color revolutions.
Before Nicaragua, Patrushev visited Havana, where he held bilateral security consultations. He was received by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and met with Cuban revolutionary leader Raul Castro.
