MOSCOW: Deliveries of the Russian SJ-100 aircraft fully assembled from domestically produced components will begin en masse next year, as previously expected, the press service of Rostec told TASS.
The holding noted that delivery times could be delayed by a few months so that the company has time to ensure the safety requirement of the aircraft, and this should not be viewed as a problem.
"Next year, as planned, large-scale deliveries of these aircraft to Russian airlines will begin. At the moment, 22 aircraft are already at different stages of completion," Rostec notes.
The state corporation stressed that all aircraft systems are created and fine-tuned based on test results in such a way as to guarantee reliability and safety, which is an absolute priority.
"It’s clear that you want everything quickly, easily and smoothly, but this is not the case in such complex projects. <…> Possible adjustments to the timing within a few months should not be regarded as critical," the press service added.
In late August, the prototype of the domestic small-range SJ-100 passenger jet successfully completed its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
Earlier on Monday, the Kommersant newspaper reported the delivery date of two new aircraft built with import-substituted components would be postponed to 2024.
