BEIJING: China and the European Union have the ability to prevent a new cold war if they work together, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

"If China and Europe work together, there will be no opposing blocs, no split in the world, no new cold war," he said at a joint news conference with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna.

According to the top Chinese diplomat, China and the European Union "must advocate openness and development." He stressed that China’s cooperation with the EU is mutually beneficial. He called for minimizing the risks by means of reducing negative impacts of the uncertainty factor stemming from the politicization of economic and business relations.
