THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Violence is reported from several parts of Kerala in the day hartal called by Dalit organizations. Hundreds of hartal supporters have been arrested on various police stations.
Hartal supporters are blocking the road. Stones were strangled to the KSRTC buses. Geethanandan and a few dalit leaders were arrested for blocking the vehicle at the High Court premises in Kochi. However, Geethanandan alleged that black people were taken into custody by the police.
A KSRTC bus driver was injured in stone pelting at Thrissur. Another KSRTC bus was stoned at Sasthamkotta in Kollam district. A few KSRTC buses were served during the morning at Thiruvananthapuram, but stopped later. The KSRTC officials said the service would be resumed if the police provide protection.
Apart from Kochi, private buses have been completely withdrawn from the roads in all the districts. Private buses are not operating in most districts in the wake of hartal.
