Kathmandu: Terrifying video footage of a flash flood in the Rasuwa district of Nepal, bordering Tibet, has emerged. Villages and infrastructure were destroyed in the deluge, leaving at least 95 people dead. Around 400 people are missing, including 135 Indians and 37 NRIs.

In Gyirong, water surging with mud, rocks, and debris swept away a massive building within moments. Everyone running for their lives was caught in the roaring torrent. The scene of absolute destruction was reminiscent of visuals seen in Hollywood movies.

The video shows floodwaters crashing into a parking area, carrying away vehicles, and kicking up thick clouds of dust. Within seconds, the terrifying footage shows people being submerged by the waters.

The flash flood occurred in the Bhote Koshi River from the Tibet side around 9:00 AM local time on Wednesday. It severely impacted the Rasuwa, Dhading, and Nuwakot districts.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the missing individuals include 105 Indian tourists, 37 NRIs, and tourists from countries such as the US, Malaysia, the UK, and Australia. Among them, 59 Indians are pilgrims on the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

The Nepal Army and disaster response forces are carrying out relief operations using helicopters. The Indian Air Force has also offered assistance.
