Trump Promises a 'Solid Wall' Against Nuclear Ambitions
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump declared that the peace accord is locked in for Sunday. According to Trump, the deal will immediately restore all shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
He pitched the agreement as an absolute barrier to Tehran's military goals, promising it would guarantee that Iran never manufactures nuclear weapons. Trump also used the moment to take a swipe at the past, criticizing the Obama-era nuclear deal for giving Iran what he called an "easy pathway" to a bomb.
The U.S. President closed with a stern warning: if negotiations stall or hit friction, Washington is fully prepared to deploy "much harsher alternatives."
Iran Urges Caution: 'It Won't Happen Sunday'
Tehran, however, is not matching Trump's urgency. Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, flatly contradicted the Sunday timeline, stating that the world will have to wait longer for an official signing date.
Baghaei pointed the finger at Washington, attributing the delay to lingering ambiguities on the American side. Furthermore, Iran is downplaying the scope of the immediate paperwork. According to Tehran, the upcoming "Islamabad Memorandum" is not a final treaty, but rather a preliminary framework meant to guide future talks on lifting economic sanctions and ending the war. Crucially, Iran expects negotiations over its nuclear energy program to stretch well into the coming days.
Acting as the central broker in these tense negotiations is Pakistan. On Saturday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed Trump's fast-tracked timeline, stating that a deal would be sealed within 24 hours. Sharif revealed that Islamabad has already set up the infrastructure for an online, virtual signing ceremony, with technical-level talks scheduled to follow next week.
While international media outlets confirm that both Washington and Tehran are ready to end the conflict, they remain fundamentally divided on the details. Whether this historic breakthrough happens online this weekend—or gets bogged down in technical disputes—remains to be seen in the days ahead.
