Chennai: Tamil Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay attended a wedding ceremony in Chennai alongside actress Trisha. A video of them attending the reception together has gone viral on social media. These visuals surfaced following reports that Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce in December 2025.
Vijay and Trisha, who have starred together in several films, arrived at the event dressed in traditional attire. The video shows Vijay stepping out of a car holding a bouquet, with Trisha following closely behind. They were attending the wedding reception of the son of Kalpathi Suresh and Meenakshi, a family prominent in the film production and distribution industry.
On February 27, Sangeetha’s divorce petition began circulating on social media. Filed at the Chengalpattu District Court, the petition seeks to end their 27-year marriage, citing infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect, and desertion.
Major points from the petition include:
Sangeetha alleged that Vijay is involved in an extramarital relationship with another actress.
She claimed Vijay has been "emotionally withdrawn" since 2021 and has treated her poorly.
She alleged she was forced to live separately while still residing within the same house.
She stated that Vijay’s actions have caused embarrassment for their children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, among their friends.
To protect the family's privacy, she requested that the court proceedings be held in private (in-camera). The couple was married in 1998.
Did His Son Jason Unfollow Vijay?
Following the divorce news, a discussion emerged among fans regarding whether Vijay's son, Jason Sanjay, had unfollowed his father on Instagram. Fans pointed out that while Jason follows 35 people, including actor Vijay Sethupathi, he does not follow his father.
However, a section of fans argues that Jason had never followed Vijay or his political party, TVK, on Instagram to begin with. Currently, Jason is busy preparing for his directorial debut with the film Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan.
Political Controversy
The appearance comes amid past political friction. BJP Tamil Nadu President Nainar Nagendran previously sparked a major controversy by stating that Vijay would only "find his way" in politics once he "stepped out of Trisha’s house."
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan, which recently received clearance from the Madras High Court.
