Dubai: The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that three American F-15E 'Strike Eagle' fighter jets were destroyed after being accidentally fired upon by Kuwaiti air defense forces.
"All six crew members (two per aircraft) ejected safely and have been recovered without injuries. Kuwait has confirmed the incident. We are grateful for the support provided by the Kuwaiti defense forces in the current military operations," CENTCOM said in a statement. Kuwait had earlier reported that several US military aircraft had crashed.
Visuals of an F-15E spiraling down from the sky with flames erupting from its rear are circulating widely on social media. The footage clearly shows the pilots ejecting as the aircraft plunges downward.
