Dubai: Powerful explosions were heard tonight in Dubai and Doha as Iran continues its drone and missile attacks against countries in the Middle East with a US military presence. Explosions resonated in the Qatari capital of Doha and Dubai in the UAE. Residents told the news agency AFP that explosions were also heard in Abu Dhabi.
Several countries have closed their airspace as Iran began retaliating against Gulf nations and Israel following US-Israeli attacks that commenced on Saturday.
The Iranian retaliation came hours after the US and Israel launched strikes across Tehran on Tuesday. US President Donald Trump warned that it is "too late" for talks to escape the war, which has now entered its fourth day.
In Iran's counter-offensive, drones and missiles struck oil facilities and US embassies in the Gulf. Meanwhile, Israel's military pushed deeper into Lebanon after Tehran-backed Hezbollah entered the fray.
The Israeli military launched massive airstrikes on the Iranian capital. Reports indicate smoke rising over government buildings in the city center and an attack on one of the airports.
"Their air defense, air force, navy, and leadership are gone. They want to talk now, but it's too late," Trump posted on social media.
This statement comes four days after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. However, the Iranian ambassador denied reports that Iran had approached the US for talks.
Revolutionary Guard General Ebrahim Jabbari warned that if attacks continue, Iran will destroy all economic centers in the region.
"We have closed the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, oil prices are above $80 and will soon reach $200," he said. For the first time since July 2024, Brent crude oil prices have climbed above $85.
The Israeli military is moving forward by targeting Iran's ballistic missile production facilities and industrial centers.
