WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has given Hamas a deadline until Sunday at 6 p.m., Washington D.C. time, to accept his Gaza peace plan. Trump's threat is that if the plan is not accepted, "all hell will break out."
"An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Every Country has signed on! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas. THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER."
Earlier this week, Trump had unveiled the peace plan along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This peace deal for Israel and Gaza was announced after nearly two years of conflict. However, the Palestinian group has not yet accepted it.
On Tuesday, Hamas stated that they would study the proposal, and Trump had told reporters that Hamas would have "three or four days" to respond.
"Most of you are surrounded and MILITARILY TRAPPED, just waiting for me to give the word, 'GO,' for your lives to be quickly extinguished. As for the rest, we know where and who you are, and you will be hunted down, and killed," Trump warned Hamas.
Key Proposals in the Peace Deal:
A ceasefire must be implemented.
Hostages must be released within 72 hours.
Hamas must be disarmed.
Israel must gradually withdraw from Gaza.
Following this, Trump will lead the post-war authority.
Mohammad Nazzal, a member of Hamas's political bureau, said in a statement on Friday that "the plan has points of concern, and we will announce our position on it soon."
Hamas had maintained that they would only release the remaining hostages for a permanent ceasefire and Israel's withdrawal. Meanwhile, Netanyahu rejected their terms, insisting that Hamas must disarm and surrender.
