BRUSSELS: The United States will continue to play an active role in NATO and wants the alliance to become stronger, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
"The United States is as active in NATO as it has ever been, [US President Donald] Trump is not against NATO, he is against a NATO that lacks the necessary capabilities," he told reporters.
He said that "this hysteria and hyperbola that I see in the global media and some of the domestic media in the United States" about the US and NATO are not justified. "We want NATO to be stronger, we want NATO to be more viable. And the only way for NATO to get stronger, more viable is our partners, is that the nation states that comprise this important alliance have more capability.
