MOSCOW: US President should take a more constructive stand on Russia for possible top-level contacts, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Rossiya-1 TV channel’s journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"First, it should imply shared desire, shared readiness, certain conditions should grow ripe," Peskov said when asked about the conditions for possible contacts between Russian and US leaders.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that he is ready for any contacts," according to an excerpt of the interview published on Zarubin’s Telegram channel. "Curtailing of the basis of bilateral relations between Russia and the US was spearheaded by the Americans. This is why at least the head of the US will have to change his position at some point, taking a more constructive stand on bilateral relations, which will be followed by conditions for such a meeting growing ripe," Peskov stressed.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in late September that he did not rule out possible recovery of the Russian-US relations and a new personal meeting between the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.
Previously the leaders met in June 2021 in Geneva and they had telephone conversations later.
