Despite the crisis caused by the Covid pandemic, the digital media sector continues to function responsibly. The Covid crisis has also adversely affected the functioning of the online media. The meeting also requested the Central and State Governments to take a sympathetic approach in this regard.
The annual general body meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram thanked the Government of India and the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for their approval of the Digital Publishers Content Grievances Council and Com India.
Com India and the Digital Publishers Content Grievances Council under Com India are one of the three organizations in the country approved by the Central Government after the new law came into force earlier this year.
It was also decided at the annual meeting to give membership to the newly applied online media subject to conditions. Currently 25 applications have been received. After scrutiny, the decision will be officially communicated to the concerned media.
Online media and YouTube channels wishing to become new members of Com India can apply through the website www.comindia.org or email: 4comindia@gmail.com. Com India said in a statement that only companies operating in the news sector will be considered.
