LONDON: The UK has imposed restrictions on Denis Sergeev, an officer of the GRU (Russia's military intelligence agency), whom it accuses of involvement in the incident with former GRU Colonel Sergey Skripal in Salisbury in 2018, according to the updated sanctions list on the UK government website.
The sanctions also target Russians Yevgeny Kopot, Alexander Kuzin, and Yevgeny Khodotov, as well as the Officers’ Union for International Security organization.

Military sector
The British authorities have imposed restrictive measures against the Afrika Corps paramilitary organization, allegedly linked to Russia. The restrictions also affected the commander of this organization, Andrey Averyanov. London believes that "these targets have direct links to the Kremlin and have threatened peace and security in Libya, Mali, and the Central African Republic."
The British authorities also sanctioned Russians Yevgeny Kopot, Alexander Kuzin, and Yevgeny Khodotov, as well as the Officers’ Union for International Security organization, which is allegedly involved in the activities of the Wagner Group in the Central African Republic.
In addition, the UK imposed sanctions against the Espanola private mercenary group with alleged links to the Kremlin.
Sanctions related to Skripal Incident
The UK imposed restrictions on GRU officer Denis Sergeev, whom it accuses of involvement in the incident with former GRU Colonel Sergey Skripal in Salisbury in 2018.
According to the British authorities, Sergeev assisted in the preparation and use of a Novichok nerve agent in Salisbury and played a coordinating role in London over the weekend of the attack. Moscow strongly denies allegations of its involvement in the incident.
Restrictions against companies
London has imposed sanctions on the Navis Design Bureau, Zenit Finance, and Elesar Group, as well as on firms from Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, and Estonia for allegedly supporting the special military operation.
Sanctions against high-ranking officials
The UK sanctions list now also targets former South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov.
