MOSCOW: Protective capabilities of armor, produced at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant, have been improved in accordance with the wishes of the military that take part in the special military operation, the Russian Defense Ministry announced Thursday.
"Representatives of the enterprise’s management reported to Defense Minister [Sergey Shoigu] that the protective capabilities of the armor have been improved with consideration of existing protection requirements, as well as wishes of the servicemen who perform special military operation duties," the Ministry said.
According to the plant management, the new double armor for future vehicles can withstand detonation of 2 kg of TNT or a hit with armor-piercing incendiary ammunition. It is also ensures protection of the radiator, the hood and wheels, protects the crew from small arms fire, shrapnel and mortar shells.
The Arzamas Machine-Building Building is located in the Nizhny Novgorod Region city of Arzamas. The enterprise produces wheeled armored personnel carriers and armored automobiles - Tigr vehicles in particular - as well as special vehicles.
