‘Spiritual research shows that 30% of the causes of addictions are physical, that is, dependency on the addictive substance, around 30% are psychological, and around 40% are spiritual. Regular spiritual practice when done as per the universal spiritual principles is a very powerful tool to overcome addictions completely in a short period of time’, stated Mr. Sean Clarke on behalf of the Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay (MAV).
He was speaking online at the international 10th Annual Congress on Mental Health (ACMH 2023)’ organised by Conference series in Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Clarke presented MAV’s 102nd research paper on ‘How can addictions be caused by spiritual factors, and how to overcome them?’ authored by Paratpar Guru Dr. Athavale and co-authored by Mr. Sean Clarke.
Mr. Clarke said that spiritual factors such as being affected by negative energies or departed ancestors play a very important role in one’s life and they significantly contribute to one’s aura negatively. However, once one starts spiritual practice, the negativity in one’s aura begins to reduce. He explained this study with the help of an experiment conducted using the Universal Aura Scanner (UAS).
In the experiment, the aura readings of 3 pictures of a Saint from France were taken - 1st when he was addicted to cigarettes, 2nd after starting spiritual practice, and 3rd after he grew spiritually and became a Saint. The findings showed that the 1st picture in which He was addicted to cigarettes showed a highly negative aura.
In the 2nd picture, His negative aura was reduced to half, while the 3rd picture of Him as a Saint showed a highly positive aura. Some more examples of seekers who overcame addictions in a few months to years while doing spiritual practice at MAV were given.
In conclusion, Mr. Clarke said that if the medical community wants to improve mental health, they should include the spiritual dimension in their research and use spiritual tools in their treatment regime. This is because Spirituality is vital for the well-being of a person.
